The opening receptions will take place on 4 consecutive nights beginning on Wednesday March 2nd, culminating at Gallery Lombardi on Saturday March 5th. The Dougherty Arts Center, Eastside Artist Coop, Camp Fig, and Bolm Studios will also be open from 12-6pm on Saturday the 5th. The basic motif of the show is ‘what’s happening now,’ with the intent to capture a broad scope of contemporary work created throughout Texas. The artists selected for the show will be displaying art from a range of mediums including 3-D and video installation, painting, and photography, and many will be displaying multiple works. There will also be a Best in Show award and 5 jurors picks. All work selected for the Biennial will be included in a full-color catalog available at each gallery. The Texas Biennial is pleased to announce our inaugural exhibit taking place March 2nd-30th 2005. This new initiative was founded in Austin by Bolm Studios, Camp Fig, the Dougherty Arts Center, Eastside Artist Coop and Gallery Lombardi. These five art spaces joined forces to develop and promote the many talented artists that live here in Texas. Over 600 submissions from 99 Texas cities were received, and the final 36 artists, representing 12 Texas cities, were chosen by a 12 member panel made up of the following representatives: |
